This guide is for content editors who create and manage pages in Primo. You’ll learn how to create pages, add blocks, edit content, and publish your work.

The Editor Interface

The Primo editor has three main areas:
  1. Sidebar - Page outline and available blocks
  2. Canvas - Visual page editor
  3. Toolbar - Site navigation, Pages, and Publish button

Creating Pages

  1. Open Pages, then choose Create page.
  2. Name the page. Primo generates its URL.
  3. Create the page using its default page type.
  4. Open the new page to start editing.
1

Open Pages dialog

Click “Pages” in the toolbar.
2

Create new page

Click “Create Page”.
3

Choose page type

Choose from the page types your developer configured. Their names and layouts depend on your site.
Page types determine which blocks you can use. Your developer configures these.
4

Set page details

Fill in:
  • Name: Name shown in the page list; it appears to visitors only if your developer uses it in the design
  • Slug: URL path (auto-generated)
  • Content fields your developer defined, such as an article title or author
Your page is created. Fill in its content; if its page type allows layout changes, you can also add blocks.

Working with Blocks

A block is a reusable design your developer builds or imports. Each placement on a page has its own section content. The blocks available to you depend on the page type.

Adding Blocks

Watch the workflow in Primo. Download video · Download captions
  1. Choose where the new block will go.
  2. Find a block in the Blocks tab.
  3. Drag the block onto the page.
  4. The new block appears in the page outline.
1

Find a block in sidebar

Browse available blocks in the left sidebar.
Available blocks depend on what your developer enabled for this page type.
2

Drag onto page

Drag the block from the sidebar onto your page. Drop it where you want it.
3

Edit content

Open Edit content from the block toolbar and fill in the fields, then choose Save.

Reordering Blocks

Watch the workflow in Primo. Download video · Download captions
  1. Select a block in the page outline.
  2. Open the block actions menu.
  3. Move the block up one position.
  4. The canvas and outline use the new order.
Drag blocks to reorder them:
  1. Hover over a block
  2. Use the drag handle (appears in toolbar)
  3. Drag up or down to new position
You can also open the block actions menu in the page outline and choose Move up or Move down. Use Tab to focus the menu and Enter or Space to open it; this avoids dragging.

Deleting Blocks

  1. Hover over a block
  2. Click the trash icon in the block toolbar
  3. Confirm deletion

Publishing

When the site’s saved changes are ready, publish the site. Publishing includes changes on other pages too:
  1. Click “Publish” in the toolbar (or press Cmd/Ctrl + P)
  2. Click “Publish Changes” in the dialog
  3. Wait for the success message; timing depends on site size and your browser
Your changes are now live!
Inline edits and page layout changes auto-save. Changes in block, section, and site dialogs require Save. Saved changes become public when you publish the site.

Keyboard Shortcuts

  • Cmd/Ctrl + P: Publish
  • Cmd/Ctrl + ↑/↓: Navigate between pages
  • Cmd/Ctrl + E: Open the hovered section editor; developers can also toggle Code and Content tabs
  • Cmd/Ctrl + S: Save (in block/section editors)
